PORTLAND, OR — On Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC) recognized Rheaply at the Council’s annual Summit in Portland with the Leadership Award for Advancing the Circular Economy for significant leadership in executing and supporting sustainable purchasing initiatives.
A prestigious panel of sustainable purchasing experts evaluated Rheaply’s work in sustainable purchasing for the breadth and quality of its sustainable purchasing strategies and impacts, based on a detailed case study of work in a specific area.
“The winners of these Awards, and the activities they have successfully undertaken, demonstrate the power of sustainable purchasing to advance a socially just, ecologically healthy, and economically prosperous future,” said Sarah O’Brien, Acting CEO of the SPLC. “Together with their peers around the world, the organizations and individuals honored today leverage the power of procurement to encourage, drive and support a constructive transformation that will define the global marketplace of tomorrow.”

SPLC presented its Leadership Award for Advancing the Circular Economy to Rheaplyfor developing a new asset management technology that helps advance the circular economy by allowing users to track and manage assets for resale and internal/external transfer. About the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council:
Founded in 2013, the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council convenes buyers, suppliers, and public interest advocates to develop programs that simplify and standardize sustainable purchasing efforts by large organizations. The Council has quickly attracted, from a wide variety of sectors and regions, more than 180 members with over $200 billion in collective purchasing power. In 2015, SPLC released Guidance for Leadership in Sustainable Purchasing v1.0, which has been called the “most comprehensive literature to date” on sustainable purchasing. Hundreds of organizations are now using SPLC’s Guidance, resources, and online community of practice to create strategic sustainable purchasing programs, or enhance existing ones.
