Rheaply partnering with SWALCO to promote reuse in greater Chicago

Rheaply is incredibly pleased to announce its partnership with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO). Kicking off from the Circular Economy Workshop in September 2020, Rheaply is beginning a strategic reuse partnership with SWALCO.

Rheaply and SWALCO partnership

This partnership will provide local organizations in Lake County and northern Illinois with a deeper understanding of the circular economy model as well as resources to participate in the existing systems of Lake County, Illinois. The initial webinar took place on September 24, 2020. This webinar invited leaders of business, the waste industry, the recycling and composting industry, local, state and federal government, non-profit organizations, local chambers of commerce, and primary and secondary schools to participate in the workshop.

What is SWALCO?

SWALCO overview

Participants were guided through discussions and breakout sessions where they identified opportunities and hurdles in their organization’s waste and reuse practices. Participants were then encouraged to make a pledge as part of joining the Lake County Circular Economy Partners Network.

Some exciting updates from SWALCO include:

  • $12M in avoided landfill costs.
  • 1,518 new jobs from increased resource recovery.
  • Vision to bring 30 businesses into Rheaply’s platform in the Chicagoland area by 2023.

All of us at Rheaply are excited about this partnership and how it may benefit the local economy’s shift to a circular model in the years to come.
