Engineering Manager

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to manage our engineering team. In this role, you’ll not only contribute to the technical aspects of our SaaS product, but also provide leadership and guidance to a team of talented engineers. Your role will be pivotal in bridging the gap between technical excellence and people management, ensuring that our products continue to be loved by our customers.

Roles and responsibilities

People Management

  • Lead and manage a team of ~5 software engineers, fostering an environment of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Provide technical guidance to your team, helping them grow their technical capabilities.
  • Facilitate meaningful career discussions and assist with goal setting.
  • Provide timely feedback, and conduct performance reviews for your team members.

Technical

  • Oversee the development of new features and maintenance tasks, balancing hands-on technical work with management responsibilities.
  • Propose and implement improvements to our software development lifecycle.
  • Bring depth to your areas of technical expertise, and remain eager to learn in domains where you’re looking to grow.
  • Actively participate in code reviews and tech-design evaluations, while continually aiming to enhance our software development and collaboration processes.

Strategic

  • Partner with Product Managers to align engineering activities with business goals, ensuring timely and effective product delivery.
  • Participate in technical discovery, from ideation to assessing feasibility and estimating effort to bring those ideas to life.
  • Interface with customers to provide direct assistance, and to learn about needs that inform our product and technical approaches.

What we look for in an ideal candidate

  • Solid technical background with expertise in NodeJS, Javascript, Typescript, or comparable languages (6+ years of experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in a technical environment, with experience managing software engineers.
  • Experience in architecting and improving both new and existing software solutions.
  • Strong understanding of how data can be stored, retrieved, and transmitted. Examples relevant to Rheaply include working with relational databases, application state, caching, search engines, events, and building/consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Proven ability in mentoring developers and supporting their professional growth.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, effective in liaising with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What we'd like to see from you

  • Experience working with AWS or comparable cloud providers. Primary AWS services we use include ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, API Gateway, CloudFront, VPC, and IAM. 
  • Experience with Lucene based search engines (OpenSearch, ElasticSearch).
  • Experience building public APIs and integrations with external applications. 
  • Experience utilizing generative foundational models and services (our product leverages OpenAI). 
  • Insight into Platform and DevOps processes, with exposure to tools like Okta, Datadog, Stripe, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Metabase.

The salary range for this position is: $180,000 – $210,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Operations Associate

The Operations Associate is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Rheaply, ensuring efficient and effective business operations. This includes managing office and team logistics, vendor and contract management, compliance, and special projects. The Operations Associate will coordinate with internal teams to support business operations and implement new tools, and will act as a representative to external vendors and clients. The role also involves supporting the implementation of company policies and standards, managing the company’s database of client and vendor contracts, and assisting with compliance tasks.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Day-to-day Business Operations (50%)
    • Assist in the new hire onboarding process, primarily coordinating the shipping of Rheaply-provisioned equipment and general IT set-up and support
    • Administer access and licenses to Rheaply’s internal tools and platforms
    • Receiving, scanning, and shipping Rheaply mail to the appropriate parties
    • Manage the physical inventory of Rheaply’s assets
    • Coordinate and collaborate with internal function leads to enable, support, and improve day-to-day business operations and processes with the goal of enhancing operations
    • Assist in daily operational management across all Rheaply team functions: scheduling meetings, creating slide decks, etc.
    • Assist in troubleshooting problems and issues as they relate to daily operational activities 
    • Supported planning and executing various events throughout the year, such as all hands, departmental meetings, etc. 
    • Execute special projects, including developing strategies and tactics for implementation, monitoring of effectiveness, and making recommendations for improvements as required to ensure that overall goals are achieved
    • Work closely with the VP, Operations to ensure budgets are within 10% of previous years spend, which includes reviewing subscriptions and ensuring renewals are necessary
    • Monitor and support VP, Operations with expense management platform, via transaction monitoring, budget administration, and instance setup.

 

  • Vendor & Contract Management (25%)
    • Organize communication with Rheaply’s internal vendors/subscriptions 
    • Acting as a Rheaply ambassador to external vendors & parties 
    • Verify incoming vendor contracts are agreeable to Rheaply terms and conditions 
    • Research & implement new tools required on the operational side of the business to minimize spend, such as: performance management, learning & development and feedback collection, to name a few 
    • Partner with VP, Operations and Rheaply’s legal team to remediate or redline client and vendor contracts
    • Generate order forms for clients as directed by Account Executives and sales leadership
    • Manage Rheaply’s database of client and vendor contracts in Google Drive

 

  • Compliance (25%)
    • Manage the implementation & operations of company policies and standards 
    • Identify and delegate compliance tasks, including implementing a compliance software (i.e. Vanta)
    • Update and communicate company security policies in line with company practice, legal requirements, and client needs
    • Manage, or assisting the management of, Rheaply’s computer fleet
    • Meet with current and potential clients as it relates to Rheaply’s compliance program
    • Oversee documentation of Rheaply’s security posture and provide sales team with security-related vendor onboarding support 
    • Coordinate client questionnaires with Engineering team and other internal stakeholders
    • Clean returned computers, physically and digitally, to ensure internal reuse
    • Source external vendors as needed by the Engineering team
    • Advise and manage on required company policies for data management and compliance in serving customers internationally

Account Executive - Enterprise

Rheaply is committed to finding straightforward solutions to complex problems. We are constantly learning from each other, and especially from our clients. As an Enterprise Account Executive you’ll report directly to the Director of Revenue. You’ll work with large corporations across the globe in their effort to reduce environmental impact, generate time savings through the consolidation of tools and workflows, and generate additional cost savings through spend avoidance and waste diversion. You’ll prospect and develop relationships across numerous divisions including Real Estate, Workplace Services, Facilities, Sustainability, Finance, and Supply Chain. Our target market includes companies spanning biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, technology, retail, and manufacturing. You’ll manage the whole sales process from initial contact to close, acting as a resource and expert to ensure each deal closes successfully and smoothly.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Manage book of accounts and achieve new bookings and upsell/expansion goals
  • Lead detailed account strategy in generating and developing opportunities at a set of named accounts within a subset of 600 largest global companies spanning most major industries
  • Build and deepen pipeline by creating executive relationships across numerous corporate divisions to help influence their long-term technology, business, and sustainability initiatives 
  • Source new sales opportunities through outbound calls and emails, attending events, and converting inbound leads and user registrations into opportunities 
  • Command complex and possibly long sales cycles with urgency (our sales cycle can range from 2 to 12 months from initial contact to close)
  • Deliver an engaging presentation online (and occasionally in person) with executive level decision makers and consult prospective clients to see value in Rheaply’s technology and services
  • Craft professional and value-driving proposals according to specific client needs 
  • Negotiate price and contractual terms with all new customers, and identify who needs to be involved in approving the purchase (legal, CFOs, CEOs, etc.)
  • Partner with other members of Rheaply’s Revenue and Executive leadership to team sell where specialist Decommissioning, Sustainability, or Innovation Team will increase our chances of closing a deal
  • Facilitate a seamless hand-off to our Services and/or Customer Success teams after contract signing
  • Use Salesforce, Salesloft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and other tools to drive outreach, maintain clean data, and facilitate an efficient buying process for our customers
  • Track and report progress against monthly, quarterly, and annual goals
  • Maintain accurate records about sales accounts, contacts, and opportunities in Salesforce
  • Represent the needs of the market internally to Marketing, Product, Customer Success, and Sales Leadership functions; a Senior Account Executive is expected to help shape Rheaply’s go-to-market strategy

What we look for in an ideal candidate

  • 5+ years of enterprise level SaaS sales experience ideally selling to C-Level decision makers within Operations, Sustainability, Finance, IT or Supply Chain
  • Experience and a network in the IFM industry strongly preferred (CBRE, JLL, CushWake, etc.)
  • Proven track record of achieving quarterly and annual quotas 
  • Experience managing and closing complex sales-cycles, including prior success in closing $100,000+ deals 
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • An entrepreneurial spirit – the idea of being an active participant in a growing company must excite you
  • Experience and willingness to use Salesforce as a single source of truth
  • Able to function in gray areas and ambiguity; our market, product, and go-to-market motion are always evolving
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
